Official way to deal with EV fire: Let it burn!
EV Delusion – 80% charge at home
Current EV owners are a self-selecting group – well off enough to afford one, the facilities to charge off street, and a second car for when the EV doesn’t cut it. It’s not surprising that 80% of this group charge at home.
However, when EVs are forced on people outside this group, that’s when things will go wrong. The Motor Vehicle data are here: https://m-g.uy/my7
Lucky Escape – Tesla catches fire in garage
A very lucky escape for a family whose Tesla Model X caught fire in the garage. Fortunately, the fire department were able to drag it out in time before the entire house went with it

Fundamental EV charging problem
There are huge problems with EV charging, both in scalability of infrastructure and capacity for vehicle throughput. Whilst only 1% of cars on the road are EVs, it’s not (much) of a problem, but that will change hugely as EVs are forced on more and more of us…
Why EV insurance will soon become TOO EXPENSIVE
EVs are extremely difficult to diagnose. Problems with a cell within the battery may become apparent days or weeks after an accident, and as a result insurance companies are often classifying them as a total loss.
This means that insurance premiums are rising rapidly as insurers seek to recoup these losses, leading to EVs rapidly becoming uninsurable.

Why car parks will eventually BAN all EVs
After the catastrophic Luton Airport car park fire, increasing regulation will mean that many car park operators will simply ban EVs from entering.
New regulations proposed in the UK will cost so much to implement that many car parks will be forced to exclude EVs and other vehicles with lithium ion batteries.
Requirements include:
- Improvements to Fire Suppression Systems
- Increased structural fire resistance
- Increased distance between parked cars
- Greater volumes of firefighting water supplies
- Control for water runoff
- Thermal imaging cameras to detect early signs of thermal runaway

NEVER park next to an EV
NINE reasons NOT to buy an EV
You can add another two to the list: Catastrophic depreciation and cost of insurance… probably lots more as well.
