Why do countries in Europe really not want millions of cheap Chinese electric cars?
For one thing, it could impose a new peak demand. The electricity network could become unable to cope. (Unlike steel oil tanks, electricity storage is extremely expensive.)
Minor quibble … why do you still quote Imperial units so prominently? Apart from USA and UK, most countries that weren’t metric originally have now gone mainly metric. They talk in kilograms, kilometres and litres a lot more than they deal with pounds, miles or pints. Even in the UK I was taught in SI units back in 1970 so I understand both.
